Since the Fall of 2010 I have had the pleasure of working with Krista Guenin of Krista Photography, helping her out at the office as well as assisting her on a few wonderful weddings. As the 2011 season starts, my first full season as an official wedding photographer, I've been doing some thinking and my goal for the season is to shoot, assist, or second shoot a wedding every weekend! In the hopes of beefing up my portfolio, meeting some great people, and working really hard to eventually become 100% self-employed... So here's a small look at the work I've been able to do while assisting Krista. I'm about 1/3 of the way to my goal, hopefully there will soon be much more where this came from!

Jordan Shipers, 18, of Bethany, Mo. is very close to being drafted into Major League Baseball's First Year Player Draft that starts on Monday June 7th, despite the fact that Shipers has never played a single game of high school baseball. South Harrison High School in Bethany doesn't have a baseball program so Jordan has developed his talent and strength as a pitcher on his own and traveling all over the United States on various competitive non-school affiliated teams, "I've never played on the same team twice... I'm always the new guy..." Jordan said.

"I would smile but I can't anymore," chuckled Gerald Kuckleman of Atchison, Kansas while in his living room Thursday afternoon. Gerald suffers from Guillain-Barré syndrome, believed to be a side-effect of the H1N1 flu shot he received early in December. Originally, Gerry was paralyzed from the waist down, it then spread to his face, making it very difficult to talk, and impossible to smile for the time being. However, after 6 weeks of physical therapy he has learned to walk again and is making tremendous process with ongoing physical therapy.

Diane and David Embrey stand with their 1987 Ford pickup truck, recently repaired through the Car Angels program, which is a result of a partnership between Community Outreach St. Joseph and Sparks of Hope Group. Diane is out of work and David is on disability, without Car Angels, they couldn't have afforded their car repair and would have no car at all.

The house's bricks were baked in the front yard, and today it is full of family heirlooms and antique furniture. The house has been in the Miller family since it was built, and Nancy plans for her son to inherit it eventually.
